Mary was fond of becoming an athlete since childhood, she used to participate in football like during school time. But the funny thing is that he never participated in boxing. In 1998, boxer 'Dingko Singh' won the gold medal in the Asian Games.

He was from Manipur. With this victory, his entire motherland was lost. Here Mary saw Dingko while boxing, and was determined to make it her career.

After this, the first challenge before him was to convince his family members for this. These people, considering the simple of small space, considered boxing as a sport of men, and they used to think that such a game takes a lot of hard work, which is not good for this young girl.

Mary had decided in her mind that she would reach her goal, no matter what she had to do for it. Mary started training for this without informing her parents. Once she saw girls boxing with boys in 'Khuman Lampak Sports Complex', which she was shocked to see.From here, thoughts about his dream became more mature in his mind. She went to Imphal from her village and met Manipur state boxing coach M Narjeet Singh and requested him to train her. She was very passionate about this game, as well she was an early learner. Even when everyone used to go from the training center, she used to practice till late at night.

After starting boxing, Mary knew that her family would never accept her idea of ​​making a career in boxing, due to which she kept it hidden from her family. From 1998 to 2000, she continued to train at her house without informing.

In 2000, when Mary won 'Women Boxing Championships, Manipur', and received a Boxer Award, her news was published in every newspaper there, then her family also came to know her as a boxer.

2001:
In 2001, Mary started her career at the international level. At this time, he was only 18 years old. First of all, he participated in the AIBA Woman's Boxing Championships held in the US, 48 kg weight category and won the silver medal here.
After this, in 2002 I won the AIBA Woman's203 Boxing Championships held in Turkey, in the 45 kg weight category and he named the gold medal. In the same year, Mary also won the gold medal in the 45 weight category in the 'Witch Cup' held in Hungary.

2003:
Mary won the gold medal in the 46 kg weight category at the Asian Women's Boxing Championships held in India in 2003. After this, Mary once again won the gold medal in the Women's Boxing World Cup held in Norway.

2005:
In 2005, Mary again won the gold medal in the 'Asian Women's Boxing Championships' 46 kg weight class held in Taiwan. In the same year in Rasiya, Mary also won the AIBA Women's Boxing Championships.

2006:
In 2006, Mary won the gold medal at the 'Venus Women's Box Cup' held in Denmark and the AIBA Women's Boxing Championships held in India.

2008:
After a break of one year, Mary came back in 2008 and won the silver medal in 'Asian Women Boxing Championships' held in India. With this, AIBA won the gold medal in Women's Boxing Championships China.

2009:
Mary won the gold medal at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games held in Vietnam.

2010:
Mary won the gold medal at the 2010 Asian Women's Boxing Championships held in Kazakhstan, along with Mary won the gold medal at the AIBA Women's Boxing Championships for the fifth consecutive time. In the same year Mary won the Bronze medal by participating in the 51 kg weight class at the Asian Games.

2011:
In 2011, he won the gold medal in the Asian Women's Cup 48 kg weight class held in China.

2012:
In 2012, he won the gold medal in 'Asian Women's Boxing Championships' 51 kg weight class held in Mongolia. Mary received a lot of respect at the Olympics held in London this year, she was the first female boxer to qualify for the Olympics.

Here Mary got a bronze medal in 51 kg weight class. Along with this I was the third Indian woman who got a medal in the Olympics.

2014:

In 2014, at the Asian Games held in South Korea, I won my gold medal in women's flyweight (48-52kg) and created history.

Personal Life

Mary met Onler in Delhi in 2001, when she was going to the National Games in Punjab. At that time, Onler was studying law at Delhi University. Both were very impressed with each other, they had a friendship relationship for four years, after which both of them got married in 2005. They both have thirty boys, out of which 2 twin sons were born in 2007, and another son was born in 2013.
